Where were you born?
California-born, Texas-raised. Specifically, San Diego, California, to Sherman and Denison, Texas. (it’s a long story).
Education:
I have probably spent three hours at most colleges throughout the great state of Texas (LOL!) since I was a collegiate athlete. However, the institutions that shaped me academically were the following: Midland Junior College; Grayson County Junior College; and Concordia Lutheran College in Austin, Texas (to all the theologians: this is where I studied the Old Testament and New Testament) and yes, I did graduate. Not from any of the schools that I listed above, but from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology (I have a PhD in going to different colleges in Texas and a minor in hour accumulation).
How long have you been in the ministry?
I accepted my call on October 25, 2001, under the leadership of Ron Shaw Pastor of Light Church. During my tenure at Light Church, I was exposed to the true meaning of ministry, which is service where I played many roles from security; to a sound technician; to the head of advertising and marketing just to name a few. In 2018 I became the Executive Pastor at New Testament Bible Church of Denison where my father the late Pastor Billy W. and Sister George Etta Milam were the founders (yeah, I’m a preacher’s kid). My father charged me with transitioning the business of the ministry to the 21st century through upgrading the church’s technology and streamlining antiquated business methodologies and “not preaching too long”. I was installed as Pastor in November of 2020.
Your Thoughts on Ministry
The Bible is the Living Word of God, I believe in practical application and making the Word of God applicable to our lives (they dealt with the same challenges we deal with, we truly need to read it).
Favorite Scripture?
There are too many to name, however, Ecclesiastes 1:9 really resonates with me “That which has been is that which will be [again], And that which has been done is that which will be done again. So there is nothing new under the sun.”
Hobbies:
I like reading, but my favorite is coaching Elijah’s AAU team.
Family
My wife Christie (she’s the best … read her bio!) we have three sons (like the TV show My 3 Sons) Davon, Justin and Elijah.
